- Hibbert's definition of hallucinations
- In 1824 the British physician Samuel Hibbert (1782-1848) defined "apparitions (i.e. hallucinations) as follows: "Apparitions are... considered as nothing more than ideas or the recollected images of the mind, which have been rendered more vivid than actual impressions."ReferencesHibbert, S.
